Introduction:
Marine pump refers to the ship used to increase the pressure or potential energy of liquid and liquid materials to make it flow. Pump is generally required to transport liquid to a higher position, a longer distance and a higher pressure, and the pump can also be used to produce high-pressure liquid for hydraulic transmission. The pump is driven by motor or other prime mover. The characteristics of Marine pump are: when the pump is required to swing and tilt the ship, cavitation can not occur due to the fluctuation of the suction liquid surface; In order to reduce the occupied area of the pump and facilitate maintenance, the vertical structure is generally used; Flow parts are made of materials such as bronze, brass or stainless steel to minimize corrosion.
Marine pumps have a very wide range of applications in modern ships, in general, a diesel-powered cargo ship, the need for 36 to 50 various types of pumps, the number of ship machinery and equipment accounted for 20% to 30% of the total.
Material:
Common Marine pump materials are cast iron, cast steel, brass, stainless steel and other materials, different use scenarios need different materials of the pump.
1. Cast iron
1) Applicable parts: non-rotating flow parts, such as pump shell, etc
2) Advantages and disadvantages:
Advantages:
(1) Low cost, higher cost performance;
(2) Wear resistance, high hardness is not easy to wear;
(3) Through the anti-corrosion coating, it can have a certain corrosion resistance.
Disadvantages:
(1) large weight, inconvenient to move and suspend installation;
(2) Not applicable to high temperature and high pressure, high pressure environment may be deformed;
(3) Due to casting process decisions, subsequent leakage problems may occur.
3) Common label: HT200, HT250
2. Cast steel
1) Advantages and disadvantages:
Advantages:
(1) strength is higher than cast iron, withstand greater pressure, suitable for harsh environment;
(2) Strong corrosion resistance, able to resist the corrosion of acid and alkali media;
(3) Good wear resistance, through the processing process can improve the hardness and wear resistance, thereby extending the service life.
Disadvantages:
(1) the cost is higher than cast iron;
(2) Casting is difficult, the production process is complex, and the production cycle is long.

3. Copper
1) Advantages and disadvantages:
Advantages:
(1) The material properties of copper determine good corrosion resistance;
(2) Copper is easy to process and form, and is suitable for complex parts manufacturing;
(3) Copper has a certain strength and toughness, and the use requirements of Marine pumps.
Disadvantages:
(1) The unit price of copper itself is high, which increases the cost of the entire equipment;
(2) Copper ground is soft, wear needs to be replaced, and follow-up maintenance costs are high.

4. Stainless steel
1) Advantages and disadvantages:
Advantages:
(1) corrosion resistance, stainless steel conveying strong corrosive media has good performance;
(2) good sealing, stainless steel surface does not exist porosity;
(3) No pollution: stainless steel pump from the material and design have considered the factor of no pollution, in line with environmental protection requirements
(4) high temperature resistance: stainless steel itself determines that the stainless steel pump can work normally in a high temperature environment;
Disadvantages:
(1) the price is higher: compared with ordinary cast iron and cast steel pumps, stainless steel pumps have higher prices and high manufacturing costs;
(2) Pressure difference: the compressive strength of stainless steel pump is low, and it is not suitable for high temperature environment.
