CLASSIFICATION
Marine Gasket
Gaskets are mechanical seals between two objects, often used to prevent leakage from pressure, corrosion, and the natural thermal expansion and contraction of piping between two objects. Since machined surfaces cannot be perfect, irregularities can be filled with gaskets.
Gaskets are usually made of sheet materials such as gasket paper, rubber, silicone rubber, metal, cork, felt, neoprene, nitrile rubber, fiberglass or plastic polymers such as PTFE. Gaskets for specific applications may contain asbestos.
Gasket specifications range from 1mm-1000mm in diameter and 0.1mm-50mm in thickness.
The gasket pressure ratings are 1MPa, 1.6MPa, 2.5MPa, 4.0MPa, 6.4MPa, 10MPa, 16MPa, 25MPa, 32MPa, 42MPa, 64MPa and so on.
