The mooring capstan is an important deck machinery used to fasten the mooring line to the capstan head and keep the ship in position. It has the same function as a mooring winch. Mooring capstan can be driven by electric or hydraulic. The electric mooring capstan can be delivered with single, double or three-speed motor. The hydraulic mooring capstan can be controlled by a hand-proportional valve to realize step-less speed regulation. According to customer requirements, different designs can be provided to meet various deck layout requirements.

 During mooring, ropes or lines from the vessel are wrapped around the capstan's drum. By rotating the capstan either electric or hydraulic, tension can be applied to the ropes, allowing for controlled handling of the vessel during docking or anchoring procedures.
