The application of emergency release in towing winches is mainly to quickly and safely release the rope or rope system of the winch in emergencies, to avoid accidents or reduce their impact.

1. The winch should be designed so that the drum can be released in an emergency when the rope is retracted, released, or the drum is braked. The maximum allowable delay time from the moment of release to the release of the reel is 10 seconds.

In any case (including a malfunction of the normal power source), emergency release should be possible at all control points as long as the same controller is operated. Even during power outages, emergency release sequences should be implemented.

4. After emergency release, the winch brake should be able to immediately restore normal function. After emergency release, the winch prime mover should not automatically operate again.
