Overview

Regular inspection of marine cranes is one of the key steps to ensure their safe operation. Ship owners and operators should establish a strict inspection plan and ensure that all maintenance and repair work is completed on time to ensure that the crane can operate reliably when needed.

Daily check

There are homework drivers who carry out daily routine maintenance projects, mainly including external cleaning, lubrication and rotating work, adjusting and tightening components, testing the sensitivity and reliability of safety devices through operation, and detecting any abnormal sounds during operation.

Weekly inspection

Completed jointly by the driver and maintenance worker, in addition to daily inspection items, the main focus is on inspecting the appearance of marine cranes, checking the safety status of hooks, retrieval devices, steel wire ropes, etc., as well as the sensitivity and reliability of brakes, clutches, and emergency alarm devices. Through operation, observe whether there are abnormal noises and overheating phenomena in the transmission components.

Monthly inspection

The maintenance unit of marine lifting equipment shall work together with relevant personnel from the using department. In addition to weekly inspections, the main tasks are to inspect the power system, lifting mechanism, slewing mechanism, operating mechanism, and hydraulic system of the marine crane, replace worn, deformed, cracked, and corroded components, and inspect the electrical control system to ensure the reliability of the feeding device, controller, overload protection, and safety protection devices. Check the signs of faults caused by leakage, pressure, temperature, vibration, noise, and other reasons of the lifting machinery through testing and operation. Subjectively inspect the structure, support, and transmission parts of the crane through observation, understand and master the technical status of the entire crane, inspect and determine the source of abnormal phenomena, record the operation status after inspection, and archive the coding data for each shipping crane.

Annual inspection

The annual inspection of marine cranes is carried out jointly by professional maintenance units and enterprise personnel. In addition to monthly inspection items, the main focus is on technical parameter testing and reliability testing of lifting machinery. Through inspection instruments, wear and tear of moving parts of lifting machinery and various working mechanisms, welding seams of metal structures, and testing and flaw detection are carried out. Safety devices and component tests are conducted to evaluate the technical condition of lifting equipment operation. Arrange plans for major repairs, renovations, and updates. After the inspection is completed, the maintenance unit should provide detailed inspection reports, as well as information on vulnerable and worn parts.
