The stern tube device includes parts such as the stern tube, front bearing, rear bearing, and packing device.

The task of the stern tube device is to support the propeller shaft and ensure that it can reliably flow out of the ship, preventing a large amount of water from outside the ship from infiltrating the ship and preventing the leakage of lubricating oil. In order to undertake the above tasks, the stern tube device is generally composed of the stern tube, stern bearings, sealing devices, and lubrication and cooling systems. The stern tube bearings can be installed into the stern tube in the workshop, or they can be installed after the stern tube is installed on board the ship. In order to facilitate installation and reduce the workload of shipyard installation, most shipyards currently assemble the two in their workshops. As shown in Figures 1-31.
