What is Marine Ball Valve?

Marine Ball valve, the opening and closing parts (ball) driven by the valve stem, and around the ball valve axis for rotary motion of the valve. Marine Ball valve in the pipeline is mainly used to do cut off, distribution and change the direction of flow of media, it only needs to rotate 90 degrees of operation and a very small rotating torque can be closed tightly, but also can be closed to any channel and make the other two channels connected. Ball valves are most suitable for switching, cut-off valve use.

Overview

Working Principle

Since ball valves usually use rubber, nylon and PTFE as seat seal materials, its operating temperature is limited by the seat seal material. The cut-off action of the ball valve is by the metal ball under the action of the medium, in the plastic seat between the mutual compression to complete (floating ball ball valve). Seat sealing ring in a certain contact pressure, the local area of elastic-plastic deformation. This deformation can compensate for the manufacturing accuracy and surface roughness of the ball to ensure the sealing performance of the ball valve.

And because the ball valve seat sealing ring is usually made of plastic, so in the selection of the structure and performance of the ball valve, to consider the ball valve fire-resistant and fireproof, especially in the petroleum, chemical, metallurgical and other sectors, in the flammable, explosive media equipment and piping systems using ball valves, more attention should be paid to fire-resistant and fireproof.

Main Structure

The sphere of the marine ball valve is fixed and does not move after being pressurised. Fixed ball valve are with floating seat, by the media pressure, the seat to produce movement, so that the seal ring tightly pressed on the ball to ensure sealing. Usually equipped with bearings on the upper and lower shafts with the ball, the operating torque is small, suitable for high pressure and large diameter valves.
