The rudder stem sealing device is a sealing component installed in the ship's rudder system, mainly used to prevent water from entering the cabin through the rudder stem hole, and to prevent lubricating oil or other liquids in the cabin from leaking into external water bodies. It plays a crucial role in keeping ships dry, safe, and preventing pollution. The rudder stem sealing device consists of three parts: packing sealing, floating V-shaped sealing ring sealing device, and sand prevention ring device arranged in series, which can effectively reduce the risk of water leakage in the sealing device and make it easier for personnel to operate after improvement.

The rudder stem sealing device uses a formed sealing element (V-shaped sealing ring) as the main seal, which plays a sealing role under normal conditions. At the same time, it has a packing seal as an emergency seal and is used as an emergency seal in case of main seal failure; The floating V-ring sealing device collects and seals seawater that leaks from the packing seal, and can eliminate adverse effects caused by installation errors, rudder deviation, wear, etc; The fast compression device used for packing sealing can manually and smoothly compress or loosen the packing, achieving adjustment of the degree of packing compression.

The rudder stem sealing device is characterized in that: the components of the packing sealing device, V-shaped sealing ring sealing device, and the anti sand ring device are connected as follows: the anti sand ring and the first anti sand ring pressure cover are sleeved on the rudder stem, installed on the left side of the rudder sealing shell, the packing is installed in the rudder sealing shell, the transition plate is sleeved on the rudder stem, fixed to the right side of the rudder sealing shell through the second screw and washer, the screw is tightened and installed on the transition plate, and round nuts are respectively inserted on each screw, two second O-shaped rings are installed on the adjustable packing pressure cover, and then sleeved on the screw, and a small gear is inserted on each screw, and the round nut is rotated on the small gear. Install the first screw on the nut to prevent the round nut from loosening. Install a large gear on the right side of the adjustable packing gland and mesh with all small gears.

Install the first pressure ring, V-shaped sealing ring, second pressure ring, and V-shaped sealing ring seat in the inner hole of the adjustable packing gland in sequence. Install the first O-shaped ring on the sealing gland and connect it with the adjustable packing gland with screws. Then, connect the sand proof ring and the second sand proof ring gland with bolts to the sealing gland; Pre install the V-shaped sealing ring, the third O-ring, and the fourth O-ring onto the V-shaped sealing ring seat before installing them into the adjustable packing gland.

The first pressure ring is fixed in the V-groove of the right V-shaped sealing ring, and a V-shaped sealing ring is also installed on the right side of the second pressure ring. The entire right V-shaped sealing ring is installed in the V-shaped sealing ring seat, which can float in the adjustable packing gland.

The second V-shaped sealing ring, the third O-shaped ring, and the fourth O-shaped ring are designed to be floating, that is, the V-shaped sealing ring and the second pressure ring are installed in the V-shaped sealing ring seat that can float radially along the rudder stock, with a radial floating value of 2mm.
