Performance Requirements
Thermal insulation: the average temperature rise on the backfire surface of the ceiling shall not exceed 140°C and the temperature rise recorded by either thermocouple on the backfire surface shall not exceed 225°C for the following periods of time specified for each grade.
Integrity: The following requirements shall be met for a minimum of 30 minutes:
Flames: there shall be no flames on the backfire surface of the ceiling.
Cotton pads: the cotton pads shall not ignite, i.e. show flames or burn flamelessly when in use.
Gap gauge: a 6mm diameter gauge shall not move 150mm along the gap after passing through the specimen, and a 25mm diameter gauge shall not pass through the specimen into the test furnace.
