Safety Inspection Of Lifting Hooks

Safety Inspection Of Lifting Hooks

Lifting hooks are critical components of lifting equipment and must be inspected regularly to ensure their safe operation. The following guidelines outline the inspection process for lifting hooks:

Overview

Inspection Working Load Limit(WLL): For manually operated lifting mechanisms, the inspection load should be 1.5 times the rated load. For power-driven lifting mechanisms, the inspection load should be 2 times the rated load.

Visual Inspection: After removing the inspection load, the hook should be visually inspected for any obvious defects or deformations. The increase in the opening size should not exceed 0.25% of the original size.

Marking: Qualified hooks should be marked in the low-stress area with the rated lifting capacity, manufacturer's mark or name, inspection mark, production number, and other relevant information.

Regular inspections and maintenance of lifting hooks are essential to ensure their safe operation and prevent accidents.
