Marine Sight Glass

Marine Sight Glass

Marine sight glass is a device used to observe the material inside the vessel and equipment. It is a safety accessory. Marine sight glass is divided into cylinder sight glass and specular sight glass. Marine sight glass can have GB and JIS and other standards. Sight glass connection has threaded, flanged and welded. Flange sight glass is more commonly used. Marine sight glass material: bronze, carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron and so on. Glass materials: tempered borosilicate glass, quartz glass, aluminum silicon glass, tempered borosilicate glass and so on. Seal material: nitrile rubber, polytetrafluoroethylene.

Overview

Feature:

Quartz glass with high purity, high hardness, high transmittance, good chemical stability, etc., is a high-quality optical materials, widely used in optical instruments, laser technology, solar cells and other fields, but the heat resistance is poor, easy to uneven thermal expansion and contraction and rupture.

Tempered borosilicate glass glass is characterized by high strength, high hardness, high temperature resistance, etc., can withstand temperatures up to 1000 , and will not occur thermal expansion and contraction phenomenon. In addition, tempered borosilicate glass can also resist acid and alkali corrosion, with good mechanical strength and impact resistance.

Application:

The main advantages of quartz glass include high light transmission, low price and ease of processing. However, due to its high brittleness, it is susceptible to mechanical shocks and thermophysical effects and needs to be handled with care. If high optical performance is required for optical instruments or laser technology, the choice of quartz glass is more appropriate.

Tempered borosilicate glass has higher strength and better heat resistance and is suitable for withstanding heavy loads and high temperature environments. However, due to its high hardness, it is difficult and expensive to manufacture, and the tempering process is also prone to tiny imperfections that can negatively affect its optical properties. For materials that need to withstand high temperatures, pressures and impact resistance, tempered borosilicate glass is more suitable.
