Magnesium Anode

Magnesium Anode

Magnesium anodes are a key component in cathodic protection systems and are commonly used to prevent corrosion of metallic structures. It is an electrochemical reaction that actively sacrifices itself to protect the metal structure attached to it from corrosion. This method is widely used in various metal equipment and facilities such as underground pipes, hulls, storage tanks, etc.

Overview

Magnesium anodes are classified into two types (cast and extruded) and three shapes (trapezoidal, D-shaped, and rod (including round and rectangular rods) according to the production method and shape.

Steel cores

1. The material of cast magnesium anode steel core shall meet the requirements of GB/T912 or GB1499.1, if the demand side has special requirements, it shall be determined by the negotiation between the supplying and demanding sides; the material of extruded anode steel core shall be determined by the negotiation between the supplying and demanding sides.

2. The surface of cast magnesium anode steel core shall be zinc-plated, silver-white after treatment, without mark; the surface of extruded magnesium anode steel core need not be zinc-plated.

3. There should be no loosening between magnesium anode base and steel core, and its contact resistance should be less than 0.001Ω.

4. The specification and shape of steel core shall be determined by the negotiation between the supplying and demanding parties.
