Overview

JIS F 2029 Marine Towing and Mooring Smit Bracket is a kind of marine equipment welded on deck, which is rated to bear the breaking load of anchor chain. It is suitable for anchor chains with a diameter of 52 mm to 132 mm, and there are welding grooves on the bracket.

It is used to install a short anchor chain (commonly called Chafing chain to prevent friction with other equipment) at one end of the wire rope when the ship is sailing or mooring, and connect one end of the chain to the deck. Products specified in this standard are designed to connect one end of the chain used in this way to the ship (and can also be directly used for ropes). Additionally, this product is also called Smith bracket.
