Introduction of protection level of Marine Heater
The IEC 60529 standard is commonly used internationally to define the sealing performance of enclosures for electrical equipment. This standard will quantify the different categories of protection level mainly for solid foreign body intrusion into the shell of the protection (including tools, fingers or dust, etc.) and for the protection of water (water to condense, wash, immersion, etc. into the shell of the harmful effects on the equipment).
Overview
Introduction:
IP after two figures, said the equipment shell for solid foreign objects and water intrusion protection strength, the first figure indicates that the electrical equipment dust, to prevent the intrusion of foreign objects level, the second figure indicates that the equipment to prevent moisture, water intrusion of the degree of confinement, the larger the number indicates that the higher its level of protection.
Type:
1. IP20: It means that the heater is protected against solid objects, e.g. an object with a diameter of more than 12.5mm and a length of more than 80mm cannot enter. But there is no protection for water.
2. IP21/22: It means that the heater has some protection against water in the vertical direction, but not completely. class 21 has protection against vertical dripping water, and class 22 has protection against vertical dripping water and obliquely spraying water.
3. IP23/24/25: This means that the heater has a high degree of protection against water. Class 23 is able to resist vertical falling water within 60 degrees, class 24 is able to resist splashing water within 180 degrees, and class 25 is able to resist jets of water from all directions.
4. IP44/45/46: It means that the heater is used in more severe environments, such as open air, strong winds, dense smoke, etc. Class 44 has protection against water in all directions, class 45 has protection against water jets from all directions, and class 46 has protection against strong water currents, immersion in water, etc.
5. IP68: It means that the waterproof level of the heater reaches a high level, which can completely avoid the intrusion of water and can work normally under extreme environment.
The first number after IP: Dust protection class
Number | Range | Description |
0 | Unprotected | No specialized protection |
1 | Protection against solid foreign objects with a diameter of not less than 50 mm | Spherical objects with a diameter of 50 mm cannot enter the shell |
2 | Protection against solid foreign objects with a diameter of not less than 12.5 mm | Spherical objects with a diameter of 12.5 mm cannot enter the shell |
3 | Protection against solid foreign objects with a diameter of not less than 2.5 mm | Spherical objects with a diameter of 2.5 mm cannot enter the shell |
4 | Protection against solid foreign objects with a diameter of not less than 1.0 mm | Spherical objects with a diameter of 1.0 mm cannot enter the shell |
5 | Dustproof | Cannot completely prevent the entry of dust, but the entry of dust does not affect the normal operation of the equipment and does not affect the safety. |
6 | Dust-tight | No dust entry |
The second number after IP: Waterproof leve
Number | Range | Description |
0 | Unprotected | No specialized protection |
1 | Prevents vertical dripping | No harmful effects of water dripping vertically |
2 | 15° drip-proof | No harmful effects of vertical dripping when all vertical surfaces of the shell are inclined within 15° of each other |
3 | Rainproof | No harmful effects when water is rained on all vertical surfaces within a 60° range |
4 | Splashproof | No harmful effects of splashing water in all directions of the shell |
5 | Water-spray prevention | No harmful effects of spraying water in all directions of the enclosure |
6 | Anti Strong Spray | No harmful effects of strong water spraying in all directions of the shell |
7 | Protection against the effects of short-term water immersion | Immersion in water at a specified pressure for a specified period of time without detrimental water ingress into the shell |
8 | Protection against the effects of prolonged submersion | No harmful effects of spraying high temperature/pressure water in all directions of the shell |
