Differences between air and water pressure reducing valves

Differences between air and water pressure reducing valves

Air pressure reducing valve and water pressure reducing valve are both pressure reducing valves, but their roles, applicable scenes, structures and materials are different. Air pressure reducing valve is generally composed of valve body, spring, valve group and other components, the valve body and valve group are mostly made of stainless steel, aluminum alloy and other materials to ensure high temperature, high pressure and corrosion resistance. Water pressure reducing valves, on the other hand, consists of valve body, valve, spool and other components, the material is mostly copper, cast iron, stainless steel, etc., to ensure corrosion resistance, sealing performance and pressure capacity.

Overview

Differences in primary role:

The main function of air pressure reducing valves is to reduce gas pressure, ensure the stability and safety of gas output, and prevent equipment overload and gas source damage.

The main role of water pressure reducing valve is to regulate the flow and pressure of water, to ensure the normal operation of the water piping system, to prevent the water pressure is too high and cause pipeline rupture, water leakage and other problems. In addition, the water pressure reducing valve can also realize water temperature control and flow metering by adjusting the height of the spool.

Differences in adjustment range:

The pressure adjustment range of air pressure reducing valve is generally 0.05~1.2MPa, which is suitable for high pressure gas equipment. The flow adjustment of air pressure reducing valve is mainly to change the pressure difference, so as to change the gas flow.

The pressure adjustment range of water pressure reducing valve is generally 0.1~1.6MPa, applicable to general water piping system. The flow adjustment of water pressure reducing valve is not only to change the pressure difference, but also to control the water flow by adjusting the height of the spool. This can not only meet the needs of different water consumption, but also realize water temperature control and flow metering.
