Correct Use Of The Positive Pressure Air Breathing Apparatus
Positive pressure fire air breathing apparatus, also known as self-contained open air breathing apparatus. It is a breathing apparatus system safety protection artifact used when working in harsh environments such as smoke, gas, dust, and restricted space or rescue. It is composed of mask, cylinder, cylinder valve, backplate, air supply valve, reducing valve, pressure gauge, alarm and so on.
Overview
1. Pre-use inspection:
Before donning the air breathing apparatus, inspect it to ensure that it is in proper working order.
Check the pressure in the cylinder: First, open the cylinder valve and check the storage pressure of the air, which should generally be between 28-30 megapascals.
Low-pressure alarm: Close the cylinder valve and observe the pressure gauge reading. If the pressure drops by no more than 2 megapascals within one minute, the air supply system is airtight. Then lightly press the supply valve. When the pressure drops, the pressure gauge pointer will rotate past 6-4 megapascals and a low-pressure alarm will sound, indicating that the low-pressure alarm is functioning properly.
Face mask airtightness: Close the cylinder valve and take a few deep breaths. If the face mask is tightly attached to the face and the wearer feels difficulty breathing, it indicates that the face mask and breathing valve have good airtightness. However, the test time should not be too long.
2. Use:
After the air breathing apparatus has been inspected and found to be in good condition, it can be used.
Back, strap, tighten: Put the air breathing apparatus on your back, with the cylinder valve facing downwards. Then fasten the waist belt and tighten the shoulder straps.
Hang, connect: Hang the neck strap of the face mask around the neck, and use both hands to connect the ends of the cylinder and the face mask to the quick connector, and then lock the safety ring.
Open: Open the cylinder valve and turn the cylinder valve counterclockwise to the maximum position.
Wear: Put on the breathing face mask. When putting it on, use both hands to open the straps and put it on from the top of the head downwards. After putting it on, tighten the strap on the top of the head first, and then tighten the straps on the forehead and ears. After putting on the breathing face mask, take 2-3 deep breaths, and it should feel comfortable. When holding your breath, the supply valve stops supplying air.
Use: During use, pay attention to the pressure gauge and low-pressure alarm. The wearer should always observe the pressure gauge reading. When the pressure drops to 6-4 megapascals, the low-pressure alarm will sound to warn the wearer to evacuate the area.
