The Positions of Container Securing Fittings on a Vessel
Inspection of fixed fittings
Inspection should be conducted on the welded joints with the ship's structure. If defects or cracks are found, they should be grooved and re-welded.
If cracks appear in the main body, immediate replacement is necessary, and repair by welding should not be employed.
If there is severe deformation in the supporting structure of the deck, tank bottom, or hatch cover, causing an uneven stacking surface, the most appropriate repair method should be taken.
Check the sockets for wear, deformation, or defects, and inspect them with standard twist locks. If there is an impact on safety, reasonable repair methods should be implemented.
Rust spots should be treated with anti-rust paint. If there is slight corrosion that does not affect functionality, no repair is necessary.
Rust deposits inside the sockets should be removed, and their dimensions carefully checked.
Before putting back into service, dirt and residue inside the sockets should be cleaned.
Any deformation in the ship's structure at the securing points should be reported to the China Classification Society as soon as possible.
