Angle Type Storm Valve
The Angle Type Storm Valve is a critical safety and operational component on ships and offshore platforms, designed specifically for the overboard discharge of sewage, wastewater, or bilge water. Its primary function is to allow effluent to flow outboard while automatically and instantly sealing to prevent dangerous and unhygienic backflow of seawater during heavy seas, rolling, or when the outlet is submerged. This automatic operation is essential for compliance with marine environmental regulations and protecting internal piping systems
Overview
Definition:
Storm valve is used to discharge sewage or waste water, and can automatically close and prevent outboard water backflow of the side valve.
A valve installed at a side sewage or waste water outlet for discharging sewage or waste water outboard and automatically closing and preventing wind and wave intrusion. Also known as drain valve.
Brief Introduction of Principle
The flange shall be fastened at the specified height above the full load waterline on the side. The drain valve inlet is connected with the drain outlet. The disc is externally open and articulated. During drainage, the water pressure in the pipe will automatically flush the valve disc for drainage. When the outboard is impacted by wind and waves, the valve automatically closes due to external pressure.
Main Data
Size Range: (e.g., DN50, DN65, DN80, DN100, DN150)
Pressure Rating: (e.g., PN10, PN16, 10K)
Material: Body, Disc, Seat, Hinge Pin options (e.g., Bronze, Cast Steel)
Flange Standard: (e.g., JIS, ANSI, DIN,GB)
Installation Guidelines
Must be installed above the vessel's full load waterline at a height specified by regulations or design.
Flange connection to the ship's discharge piping.
Regular inspection of the hinge pin, disc, and sealing surface is recommended for maintenance.
