Marine mushroom ventilator generally used in some openings of the compartments containing oil substances on board, the purpose is to prevent as far as possible the oil overflowing from the terminals of these openings from coming into contact with the source of ignition, so as to reduce the risk of fire.


Overview

1. For fuel oil tanks, deep isolation tanks at the forward and aft ends of cargo oil tanks of liquid cargo ships, and other tanks or isolation tanks in the cargo oil area that are not loaded with cargo oil, the air pipe openings should be fitted with corrosion-resistant and easy-to-replace metal fire nets. The fire net shall meet the requirements of USCG (30 mesh/25.4mm, or 2 sheets 12.7mm apart, mesh 20 mesh/25.4mm).

2. Ventilator with spark isolation requirements should be equipped with fire screens.

3. If the sounder pipe of the fuel tank cabinet is terminated in the machine premises, it should be terminated in a position far away from the fire hazard, unless precautions have been taken, such as the installation of an effective fire net.

4. Ventilation pipes leading from the fouling compartments to the open atmosphere shall be fitted with fire screens.

5. In the case of liquefied gas ships, fire screens shall be provided in the ventilation systems of the liquid cargo compartments, inter-screen wall premises and cargo compartment premises.
