What is the difference between worm gear butterfly valve and handle butterfly valve?

Worm gear butterfly valves and handle butterfly valves are common types of butterfly valves. The switching element of a butterfly valve is a circular flap that rotates to control the flow of the medium, usually requiring a handle or worm gear operation to drive the flap open and closed.

Overview

Differences in Size:

Although worm gear butterfly valves and handle butterfly valves are constructed similarly, they do not have the same dimensions. Worm gear butterfly valves are typically larger than handle butterfly valves. This is because worm gear butterfly valves require the additional installation of a rotating worm, which is generally larger in diameter than the handle of a handle butterfly valve, so worm gear butterfly valves are generally larger than handle butterfly valves.

Differences in application:

Handle butterfly valves are usually used for smaller caliber pipelines that require frequent operation, such as water treatment, sewage treatment, etc.

Worm gear butterfly valves are suitable for larger caliber pipelines and are used under higher temperature and intensity working conditions, such as chemical industry, metallurgy, electric power, and other industrial fields.
