What is Marine Needle Valve?

Marine Needle valve is a type of fine-tuning valve with a needle-shaped plug, mainly used to regulate gas flow. Fine-tuning valves require that the opening of the valve port becomes gradually larger, and that the valve can be continuously and finely adjusted from closed to open maximum.

Overview

Working Principle

As the spool moves upward, the path of the fluid becomes narrower, resulting in a decrease in flow and an increase in pressure. This is because the movement of the spool causes the path of the fluid to turn at a 90 degree angle, increasing the resistance to flow.

As the spool moves downward, the fluid path becomes wider, resulting in an increase in flow and a decrease in pressure. This is because the path of the fluid is shortened during the downward movement, reducing the energy loss in the flow.

Main Structure

Marine Needle valve are generally made of hardened steel long needles, while valve seats are made of soft materials such as tin and copper. The seal between the needle and the valve seat is achieved by the close fit of its taper surface. The taper of the valve needle has two kinds of 1:50 and 60 taper angles, and the taper surface should be finely ground. The seal between the valve stem and the valve seat is achieved by the bellows.
