Type A High Sound Reduction Wall Panel
High Sound Reduction Wall Panel is used for soundproofing of ships. Ships generate a lot of noise during operation, which not only affects the crew's quality of life, but also may adversely affect marine life. Rock wool panels and aluminum honeycomb panel have good sound insulation properties and can effectively absorb and isolate noise, providing a quiet and comfortable working environment for the crew. At the same time, this material can also reduce the noise pollution from ships to the marine environment.
Overview
Our Type A High Sound Reduction Wall Panel is engineered to meet the stringent SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) requirements for ‘A’ Class divisions. These panels are not only designed for superior sound absorption and insulation to protect crew comfort and mitigate environmental noise but are also constructed to provide the mandatory fire integrity and insulation ratings (such as A-60, A-30, A-15, A-0) for hull, superstructure, and deckhouse boundaries. They are a critical component for achieving both acoustic comfort and regulatory safety on board vessels.
Understanding SOLAS Type A Divisions
According to SOLAS Chapter II-2, ‘A’ Class divisions are bulkheads and decks designed to prevent the passage of smoke and flame for a specified time (60, 30, 15, or 0 minutes). They are constructed of steel or equivalent material and suitably stiffened. Our panels are the insulation cladding applied to these steel structures to achieve the required fire insulation value while simultaneously providing the desired acoustic performance.
Advantages & Performance
Dual Compliance: Integrates acoustic performance (High Sound Reduction) with fire safety (SOLAS A-Class) in a single system, simplifying procurement and installation.
Acoustic Performance: Available with different core materials to achieve target Weighted Sound Reduction Index (Rw) values, e.g., Rw ≥ 40 dB for rockwool cores, suitable for engine room boundaries.
Fire Resistance: Can be supplied to meet A-60, A-30, A-15, and A-0 fire integrity standards, with test certificates from recognized laboratories.
Thermal Insulation: Contributes to the vessel's energy efficiency by reducing heat transfer.
Lightweight & Durable: Aluminum honeycomb core options offer high stiffness-to-weight ratios, ideal for upper decks and superstructures.
Typical Marine Applications
Engine Room & Machinery Space Bulkheads: Requiring high sound reduction (Rw > 40 dB) and A-60 fire rating.
Accommodation & Cabin Partitions: For crew comfort, requiring A-0 or A-15 rating with good acoustic privacy.
Galley & Mess Room Boundaries: Where fire integrity and noise control are both important.
Ship's Office & Control Rooms: Needing a quiet environment adjacent to noisy areas.
