Test methods for marine mooring winches
The experiment of mooring winch should be carried out in the "Test Methods for marine winches CB/T 4446-1995. If there are any class certificate requirements, it should comply with the rules or standards of the corresponding classification society. The test items include the No-load test, Workload test, Overload pull test, Holding load test, Control brake device test, Emergency stop test etc.
Overview
The experiment of mooring winch should be carried out in the "Test Methods for marine winches CB/T 4446-1995. If there are any class certificate requirements, it should comply with the rules or standards of the corresponding classification society. The test items include the No-load test, Workload test, Overload pull test, Holding load test, Control brake device test, Emergency stop test etc.
No-load testing
The mooring winch shall operate continuously for 30 minutes at a speed not lower than the nominal speed, and operate in both directions for 15 minutes. Engage clutch, release brake, operate the mooring winch run for 15min continuously in both positive and reverse directions at no-load speed. After the 30 minute test, change the speed as soon as possible, and run for 5 minutes at each speed level and each steering.
After 30 minutes, the hydraulic winch should be operated at the lowest stable speed for 5 minutes in both forward and reverse directions.
Working load testing
Continuously wind in and wind out at the working load with nominal speed for 30 minutes.
Holding load testing
Only applicable to first-time products. Close the drum brake device to prevent the drum from rolling, apply a supporting load on the steel cable led out from the drum, and conduct a static load test. Keep the test time for 2 minutes. The brake should have no slip during the test, and there should be no permanent deformation of the stressed parts after the test. If the brake adopts a mature design, this test can be exempted.
When the drum brake device brakes, the winch should not rotate under the supporting load. If the ordering party and the manufacturer reach an agreement, this test can be conducted on board the ship.
Control brake device testing
The electric mooring winch must be equipped with an automatic control braking device. When the control handle or handwheel is moved to the stop or braking position or the winch has no power, the control braking device should automatically activate the braking function. The braking device must be able to withstand 1.5 times the drum load and stop the drum rotation at maximum speed without failure. For other driving forms of winches, the design and ordering parties shall agree to use suitable braking devices, which should also be able to withstand 1.5 times the drum load. For electric mooring winches, immediate braking should be applied. For hydraulic driven winches
Mooring winches allow a certain amount of slippage, and the slippage should not exceed 1m per minute.
Emergency stop testing
Check the reliability of emergency stop at lest one time when the winch wind in and wind out in working conditions with working load.
Automatic control testing
After setting the automatic control torque, conduct tests according to the prescribed load recovery and load release.
Other testing
If there have remote control or special devices, shall operate it and testing
Dismantling inspection after all testing
Check the connection condition of gear set (or worm gear set), main shaft and its bearing, open gear set, brake band and its brake hub, there shall be no abnormal wear and obvious damage. Check the oil quality of the gearbox, the cleanliness shall meet the requirements of relevant standards.
