Ship Draft Measuring Tool: Marine Draft Ladder
The draft ladder is a tool used on a ship to measure the depth of the draft. Its role is to help the crew understand the draft of the ship under different cargo loads, so as to ensure the safety and stability of the ship.
Overview
The draft ladder is usually composed of an upper ladder, a lower ladder, steps, fasteners, brackets and so on.
When using the draft ladder, ensure that the ship is in a stationary state with no movement or rocking. The crew will need to place the draft ladder on the side of the boat so that it is suspended below the surface of the water, ensuring that the bottom of the draft ladder is submerged. Observe the scale on the draft ladder and record the measured draft depth. Based on the measured draft depth, the crew can assess the ship's draft and adjust the ship's operation or sailing plan as necessary.
