Marine Hydraulic Horizontal Capstan

Marine Hydraulic Horizontal Capstan

The marine hydraulic horizontal capstan is a machine in which the capstan head is mounted on the horizontal shaft. It is designed to be driven by hydraulic power unit. The capstan of Hi-Sea is built as per Classification Rules and strictly conform to international shipbuilding requirements for sea-going ships, coastal ships and inland water way ships. This capstan is suitable for small ships such as fishing boats or sailing dinghy, and various large vessels, such as passenger ships, cargo ships, scientific research ships and yachts.

Overview

A marine hydraulic horizontal capstan must have the ability to operate continuously for 30 minutes at a nominal speed under a mooring load, while the mooring line shall not exceed 33% of the designed rope breaking load. It is essential on any vessel where there is a need to handle heavy ropes or chains, particularly for anchoring and mooring purposes. The specific design and capacity of the capstan will vary based on the size and operational requirements of the ship.
