Marine Electric Double Drum Winch

The marine electric double drum winch is an important deck machinery used to handle heavy loads and provide smooth and reliable performance even in harsh weather conditions. It is driven by an electric motor. The electric motor compared with hydraulic transmission has the advantages of reliable operation, less maintenance and low risk of oil leakage or pollution.

Overview

The electric winch uses electricity directly from the generator set. It has a simple and fast operation process, which is pretty efficient. The electric winch has to be equipped with fail-safe brake to prevent the winch and motor from loosening the cable in the event of power failure. The main types of electric winch currently applied on cargo ships is mainly the fixed frequency motor and variable frequency motor. The former one can achieve the single, double and three speeds.
