Marine Contra-rotating Propeller Azimuth Thruster
The marine contra-rotating propeller azimuth thruster is a Z drive propeller combining the contra-rotating propeller with the steering gear. The part under the seawater can also be 360 degrees steered freely, so as to generate the thrust from all directions. This device integrates the structural advantages of contra-rotating propeller and flexibility of 360 degrees steer gear, which could effectively shorten the diameter of propeller, improve the propelling efficiency and reduce the vibration and noises. It is mainly applied in such boats as transport ships, oil recovery ship, and sanitation engineering ships which have the special requirements or limitations.
Feature:
High quality, long service life
High reliability
Low noise
Low vibration
For extreme load conditions
Overview
The marine contra-rotating propeller azimuth thruster. Although the azimuth thruster has no rudder, it can completely convert the thrust of the propeller into the role of the equivalent rudder force to facilitate the operation of the ship. It has a large thrust per unit power, and the backward thrust and forward thrust are basically the same. This propulsion unit can be completely assembled in the workshop, without underwater operations, and is very easy to install and maintain. However, because the transmission mechanism and large hub diameter bring greater losses, its efficiency is generally low, and the mechanism is complex and the cost is high. It is often used in ships with high maneuverability requirements, such as ferries.
