Marine Class 150 Ball Valve
Overview
Introduction:
Class 150 is a pressure rating designation in the ANSI that indicates a strength rating of 150 pounds for flanges or other piping components. The permissible stress of a Class 150 25-gauge carbon steel valve is 1 Mpa at a temperature of 260° C. At room temperature (usually referred to as 25° C or room temperature), the permissible stress of Class 150 is approximately 2.0 Mpa. Therefore, Class 150 is equivalent to a pressure rating of 2.0 Mpa.
In the nominal pressure markings for valves and other piping components, Class 150 is usually used in conjunction with Class 300, Class 600, Class 900, etc. These markings indicate the pressure capacity that the valve can withstand. For example, Class 300 corresponds to 5 Mpa.
