Marine Chain

Marine Chain

Marine chain is specifically designed chains used in various maritime applications, particularly for anchoring and mooring purposes. These chains are engineered to withstand the harsh conditions of marine environments, including corrosion, abrasion, and high loads.

Overview

Describe:

Material: Marine chains are typically made from Special anchor chain steel  to withstand the forces encountered in marine applications.

Construction: Marine chains come in different constructions to suit different needs. This includes stud link chains, which have studs welded onto each link for added strength and security.

Grade: Marine chains are often classified based on their grade, which indicates their tensile strength. Higher grade chains have greater tensile strength and are capable of withstanding heavier loads. Common grades include Grade 2 and Grade 3.

Certification: In many cases, marine chains are required to meet specific industry standards and certifications to ensure their quality and reliability. This include certification from classification societies such as the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), Lloyd's Register, or Det Norske Veritas (DNV) etc.

Size and Configuration: Marine chains come in various sizes and configurations to suit different vessel sizes and anchoring requirements. The size of the chain is typically specified based on factors such as the vessel's displacement, the anchor size, and the expected loads.
