Marine Azimuth Thruster With Nozzle
The marine azimuth thruster with nozzle is a Z drive propeller combining the steerable propeller with the steering gear. Its submerged part could be 360° steered freely, so as to generate the thrust from all directions. This device integrates the high efficiency of steerable propeller and flexibility of 360° steer gear, which is mainly applied in various engineering ships such as port-working tugs, seabed cable layers and floating sheer legs that have the towing requirements and a higher requirements on maneuvering performance.
Feature:
Corrosion-resistant
Wear and rust resistant
Low noise and vibration
High quality and reliability
Easy installation and maintenance
Overview
The marine azimuth thruster with nozzle can be turned 360 degrees about the vertical axis. Its shaft is arranged in a Z-shape, which can be used to propel and control the ship. It can arbitrarily change the direction of thrust, so that the ship is able to turn around, advance and retreat freely.
When vessels are fitted with an azimuth thruster with nozzle, the pitching motion of ships can be reduced at sea and the flow of water passing through the propeller can be kept parallel to the propeller shaft in wind and waves. Its main disadvantage is poor reversing performance. Most of the nozzles of marine azimuth thruster with nozzle are accelerating types. Judging from whether the nozzle can rotate, it can be divided into fixed azimuth thruster and rotatable azimuth thruster. After the propeller-type impeller is covered with the nozzle, the efficiency is improved because the contraction of wake and eddy loss of blade tip are reduced.
