Maintenance and repair of marine winches

As marine safety equipment, the maintenance and repair of marine winches are important links. The maintenance of marine winch are including the regular inspection, cleaning, check the winch rope, electrical system inspection, safety device inspection, troubleshooting, record maintenance information, etc.

Overview

How to carry out the maintenance and repair of marine winches?

1. Maintenance:

Regular inspections:

Inspect the winch daily, weekly, or monthly to check the operation of its various components. Regularly inspect the electrical system, hydraulic system, transmission system, and safety devices of the winch to ensure their normal operation.

Cleaning:

Regularly clean the surface and internal components of the winch to remove oil, dust, and debris. Keep the environment around the winch clean to prevent debris accumulation from affecting its normal operation.

Check the winch wire rope:

Regularly inspect the steel wire rope used in the winch to ensure that it is not broken, twisted, or worn. If any problems are found, replace the steel wire rope promptly to prevent accidents from occurring.

Electrical system inspection:

Regularly inspect the electrical system of the winch, including components such as motors, switches, cables, and wiring terminals. Ensure that the electrical system connections are firm and reliable, without damage or wear.

Safety device inspection:

Regularly inspect the safety devices of the winch, such as limit switches and overload protection devices, to ensure their normal operation. If the safety device is found to be ineffective or damaged, it should be repaired or replaced immediately to ensure the safe operation of the winch.

Troubleshooting:

Regularly troubleshoot the winch, and inspect and repair any issues found to prevent more serious damage from occurring.

Record maintenance information:

Establish maintenance records to record the time, content, and personnel involved in each maintenance session, to track maintenance progress and promptly identify issues.

Regular inspection:

According to the relevant regulations and requirements of the ship, regular inspections and tests of the winch are carried out to ensure that it meets safety standards and requirements.

2. Repair:

The winch must have planned minor, medium, and major repairs.

When repairing the winch, some parts should be replaced under the following circumstances.

1) Asbestos tape: The thickness of the worn asbestos tape is 2 millimeters, and it should be immediately replaced with new asbestos tape and connected with new copper rivets.

2) Bearings: All wish bearings are selected based on the service life of the winch. Under the conditions of correct assembly and reasonable use, bearings only need to be replaced according to the situation during major repairs.

3) Gears: After gear wear, the sound of the winch operation will increase, the efficiency will decrease, and even the drum cannot rotate. They should be replaced on time.

1) If other parts are found to have defects such as excessive wear, they should be replaced immediately.

2) If there is paint peeling on the paint surface of the winch, it should be repainted during repair.
