How to Deal with the Valve Sealing Surface Leakage
Valve sealing surface leakage is the leakage of air or liquid from the sealing surface of the valve. This leakage may cause the valve to fail to close or open completely, affecting the normal operation of the system. Causes of valve sealing surface leakage may include worn sealing surfaces, deterioration, looseness, damage, or improper installation.
Overview
►Reasons of Leakage:
1. the sealing surface is not ground flat and cannot form a close line;
2. The top centre of the connection between the valve stem and the closing member is overhanging, incorrect or worn;
3. The valve stem is bent or assembled incorrectly, so that the closing member is skewed or not in the middle;
4. The quality of sealing surface material is not selected properly or the valve is not selected according to the working condition.
►Maintenance Method:
1. Correctly select the material and type of inverted gasket according to the working condition;
2. The bolts should be screwed evenly and symmetrically, and a torque spanner should be used when necessary, and the pre-tensioning force should meet the requirements and should not be too large or small. Flange and threaded connections should have a certain preload clearance;
3. Gasket assembly should be in the right, uniform force, gaskets are not allowed to lap and the use of double gasket;
4. static sealing surface corrosion, damage processing, processing quality is not high, should be repaired, grinding, colouring inspection, so that the static sealing surface in line with the relevant requirements;
5. Installation of gasket should pay attention to clean, sealing surface should be paraffin clear, gasket should not fall to the ground.
