CBM1037-81 Storm Valve
Sstorm valve, also known as a marine storm valve or ship storm valve, is a crucial component in maritime engineering. It's a type of valve used primarily in ships to prevent seawater from entering the vessel during rough weather conditions such as storms or heavy seas.
Overview
The CBM1037-81 Storm Valve is a Chinese shipbuilding standard valve specifically designed for installation on vessels to automatically prevent the backflow of seawater into internal tanks or bilge systems. As a critical safety device, it ensures that during heavy rolling, pitching, or when outlets are submerged, seawater cannot force its way back into the ship, thereby protecting machinery, cargo, and stability.
Main Materials and Standards
Body/cover: Cast steel (ZG15-II)
Disc: Cast tin bronze (ZQSn10-2)
Stem: Aluminum bronze (QA1g-2)
Pressure plate: tin brass (HSn62-1)
Sealing ring: acid and alkali resistant rubber plate (2040)
The valve body and valve cover need to carry out strength hydraulic test, the test pressure is Ps=2kgf/cm2, the pressure lasts 5 minutes, there should be no leakage or deformation
Flange connection dimensions according to CBM 1005-81
Test and acceptance technical conditions according to GB 600-81
According to CBM 1093-81 for the ship seat plate of storm valve and CBM 1035-81 for the ship's side nozzle.
Key Features & Compliance
Strict CBM Standard Compliance: Manufactured in full accordance with CBM1037-81, ensuring acceptance in Chinese shipbuilding and repair projects.
Robust Material Construction: Body/Cover in Cast Steel (ZG15-II) for strength; Disc in Cast Tin Bronze (ZQSn10-2) for corrosion resistance in seawater.
Rigorous Pressure Testing: Each valve undergoes a hydraulic strength test at 2 kgf/cm² (≈0.2 MPa) for 5 minutes with zero leakage, guaranteeing integrity.
Complete System Compatibility: Designed to mate with CBM standard seat plates (CBM 1093-81) and side nozzles (CBM 1035-81), simplifying installation.
Typical Applications
Ship bilge water overboard discharge lines.
Ballast water system overboard outlets.
Sanitary and wastewater discharge lines on vessels.
Other shipboard systems requiring overboard discharge with backflow prevention.
