Zinc Anode

Zinc Anode

Zinc anodes are suitable for use in marine and wet environments, or where equipment comes into contact with water, soil and other chemicals. These environments corrode metal materials, and zinc anodes work by forming a protective layer that reduces the corrosion of the metal. Zinc anodes can be used on a variety of equipment such as oil well casing, pipelines, bridges and ships.

Overview

Typical applications

Zinc anodes are widely used in the corrosion protection of:

‌Ships & Marine Engineering:‌ Ship hulls, propeller shafts, rudders, and offshore platforms.

‌Underground & Subsea Pipelines:‌ Natural gas pipelines, oil pipelines, and water mains.

‌Storage Tanks:‌ External and internal protection of oil storage tanks and ship ballast tanks.

‌Infrastructure:‌ Bridges, wharves, piers, and concrete reinforcement.

‌Technical Advantages & Specifications‌

‌Stable Potential:‌ Provides a consistent, well-defined protection potential (approx. -1.05V vs. Ag/AgCl/seawater), minimizing the risk of over-protection.

‌High Efficiency in Conductive Media:‌ Performs optimally in full-strength seawater and environments with good conductivity.

‌Material & Standards:‌ Manufactured from high-purity zinc meeting stringent standards such as ‌MIL-A-18001‌ or ‌ASTM B418‌, ensuring consistent performance and long service life.

‌Durability:‌ Offers good resistance to mechanical damage and provides predictable consumption rates.

‌Quality Assurance: Weight & Dimensional Tolerances (For Reference)

Weight deviation

The permissible gross weight deviation of each piece of zinc anode is ±3%, and the permissible gross weight deviation of each metre of strip zinc anode is ±5%, and the total weight of each batch of zinc anode should not have negative deviation.

Dimensional deviation

The permissible deviation of each piece of zinc anode (except strip) shall be ±2% in length, ±3% in width, ±5% in thickness, and the straightness shall not be more than 2%.

The permissible deviation of cross-section size of strip zinc anode is ±1mm, the permissible deviation of diameter of steel core is ±4%, the deviation of concentricity of steel core is not more than 2mm, and the total length of each roll of strip zinc anode should not have negative deviation.
