What is a marine air bottle
An air bottle (air receiver) is a container for storing compressed air.
Marine air bottle are containers used on ships to store compressed air, usually used in conjunction with marine air compressors.
Its main functions include starting the main and auxiliary engines, providing compressed air for various pneumatic equipment on the ship, and supplying gas in emergency situations.
Overview
In marine diesel power plants, there are generally main air cylinders and auxiliary air cylinders. The main air cylinder is used to store compressed air for starting the main engine. According to the specifications, it needs to have at least two, and the air pressure should always be maintained at 2.5MPa~3.0MPa. Without supplementing compressed air, the main engine can be started alternately in the forward and reverse directions for at least 12 times, while the auxiliary engine can be started continuously for at least 6 times. Auxiliary air cylinders are generally used to store ship sirens and compressed air for cleaning purposes. Its pressure is relatively low, and it can be stored and used after the compressed air from the main air cylinder is depressurized. Air cylinders are generally equipped with inflation shut-off valves, output shut-off valves, safety valves, pressure gauges, and relief devices. Some are also equipped with fusible plugs to prevent gas cylinder explosions. In management, attention should be paid to maintaining the pressure of the air cylinder and regularly draining water and checking the sealing of each valve. If there is a leak, it should be repaired promptly.
