The Difference Between Storm Valve and Swing Check Valve

The Difference Between Storm Valve and Swing Check Valve

Storm and swing check valves are both valves used to control the flow of fluids, but they work on slightly different principles. Storm valve controls the flow of fluid mainly by means of a float or plug, while a swing check valve achieves the same function by means of a rotating mechanism. Both types of valves are effective in preventing the backflow of fluids and ensuring the normal operation of piping systems.

Overview

Working Principle

The working principle of the swing check valve is that when the medium enters the left side of the valve disc from the direction shown in the diagram, under the action of fluid pressure, the valve disc will swing to the right around the rotating shaft, and the valve will open. Conversely, the valve disc is pressed against the valve seat, preventing the medium from flowing back in the reverse direction.

The working principle of the storm valve is the same, but the screw plug on the valve body can be used for flushing and dredging.

The difference between anti-wave valve and rotary check valve is:

1. The scope of use is different, the swing check valve is generally applicable to fuel oil and oil discharge pipeline, installed in the middle of the pipeline, while the storm valve is mainly applicable to dredging pipeline, installed in the port side of the discharge outlet;

2. The swing check valve inlet and outlet diameter is the same, while the outlet diameter of the storm valve are generally larger than the import of a grade;

3. The storm valve has straight and right-angle type, and vertical storm valve, and closed vertical stormvalve, etc., while the swing check valve is generally only straight type.
