Test rules of marine generating sets

Test rules of marine generating sets

Test rules of marine generating sets should be carried out in the “General Specification for Marine Diesel Generator Set” GB/T 13032-91.

If there are any class certificate requirements, it should comply with the rules or standards of the corresponding classification society.

The complete genset test is divided into type tests and factory tests.

Overview

1. The complete genset test is divided into type tests and factory tests.

2. If the genset falls under any of the following conditions, it should undergo a type inspection.

A. Trial production and identification of new or old products for factory production;

B. After the genset is finalised when major quality problems occur continuously in the key components of the genset during factory test operation;

C. During normal production, it should be done periodically or after accumulating a certain amount of production;

D. When the main components of the genset (diesel engine, alternator, speed controller, excitation system) undergo significant changes in production or design processes and materials, which are sufficient to cause performance changes;

E. When there is a significant difference between the factory inspection results and the last inspection;

F. When the national quality supervision agency proposes the requirement for type inspection.

Note: When situations A, D, and E occur, it is allowed to only conduct tests related to the project.

3. Type test is to include the following items:

(1) Visual Examination;

(2) Cold insulation resistance test;

(3) Alarm for low pressure of lubricating oil;

(4) Alarm for high temperature of cooling water;

(5) Over speed protection test;

(6) Starting test (applicable to generating sets with starting batteries or starting air supply only);

(7) Operating test;

(8) Load test for 2 h and overload test for 0.5 h;

(9) Measurement of steady-state governing characteristics;

(10) Measurement of speed fluctuation rate;

(11) Measurement of transient speed governing and stabilization time;

(12) Measurement of voltage regulation range;

(13) Measurement of steady-state voltage regulation;

(14) Measurement of voltage fluctuation rate;

(15) Measurement of transient voltage variation and stabilization time;

(16) Parallel operation test or load bridging test;(if applicable)

(17) Thermal insulation resistance test.

4. Factory test items for the genset

Please refer to the third article.

5. All genset components (diesel engine, alternator, excitation and voltage regulation system, etc.) must be assembled and tested in each manufacturing plant, and after inspection, they must meet the technical conditions of their respective products. Attached are the certificates, attachments, spare parts, tools, and technical documents of their respective products.

6. The genset shall undergo final assembly testing by the complete set factory by this standard. After passing the inspection, it shall be accompanied by the product qualification certificate, spare parts, tools, and technical documents before leaving the factory.
