Storm Valve

Storm Valve

The main function of a storm valve is to prevent water from flowing back into the hull or other parts of the drainage system. It allows water to flow out of the vessel or structure through the drainage system, but prevents water from flowing back in. This is essential to maintain the integrity and safety of the vessel or structure, especially during severe weather conditions or when the vessel is operating in rough seas.

Overview

Test requirements:

Strength: the valve body should have no leakage under 0.5Mh pressure;

Effectiveness test: the opening and closing of the valve disc should be free of jamming, when the valve disc is closed under the action of counterweight torque, the sealing surface of the valve disc and the sealing surface of the valve body should have an angle of 5° along the direction of opening of the valve disc;

Dimensional tolerances: the linear tolerance of the storm valve should be in accordance with the requirements of 3.2, 3.3, 3.10 in CB/T600-1991;

Shape and position tolerance: the shape and position tolerance of the storm valve should meet the requirements of GB/T600-1991 in 3.1.

Appearance: The appearance of the storm valve shall meet the requirements of 3.4~3.9 in GB/T600-1991;

Factory inspection:

All test items meet the requirements of the storm valve judged factory inspection qualified; casting chemical composition, mechanical properties of the test if there is a non-compliance with the requirements of the stormvalve, it is judged to be unqualified; other test items, if there is a non-compliance with the requirements of the storm valve, allowed to return to repair and re-inspection. If the re-inspection still does not meet the requirements, it will be judged to be unqualified storm protection valve factory inspection.
