The oval gear flowmeter is a volumetric flowmeter that determines the flow rate by measuring the rotational speed of a rotating turbine as the fluid passes through an oval cross-section pipe. The basic components include an oval pipe, a rotating turbine, a sensor and a display device. Oval gear flowmeter is a kind of volumetric flowmeter, which is used for precise continuous or intermittent measurement of the flow rate or instantaneous flow rate of the liquid in the pipeline. It is particularly suitable for heavy oil, polyvinyl alcohol, resin and other viscosity of the media flow measurement.

The starting flow rate of the flowmeter is about 2% of the maximum flow rate, and the normal operating flow rate is preferably 70% to 80% of the maximum flow rate.

Used to measure the high viscosity liquid, generally will be heated to reduce the viscosity of the liquid, and then in the pipeline circulation. When the meter is out of service, the meter filled with liquid cooling and become sticky, such as to start again, must use steam in the table outside the body of the liquid heat flushing and other methods of heating, to be used after the meter to reduce the viscosity of the liquid. Otherwise, the viscous liquid will bite the transmission parts, resulting in damage to the meter.
