Marine Anti-corrosive Aluminum Anode

Marine Anti-corrosive Aluminum Anode

Marine anti-corrosive aluminium anode is an important part for cathodic protection in ship anti-corrosion system. It is mainly used to prevent electrochemical corrosion of hull, bulkhead, seawater pipeline and other structures in seawater. Through its own corrosion behaviour, the aluminium anode directs the electrochemical corrosion current to itself, thus protecting the ship's hull and other metal parts from corrosion.

Overview

Application

Anti-corrosion of ship hull: installed on the surface of ship hull to prevent corrosion of ship hull.

Bulkhead protection: used for anti-corrosion of oil storage tanks, ballast tanks and other places.

Seawater pipeline: protect the inside of seawater pipeline of ships to avoid corrosion caused by seawater flow.

Marine engineering: used on marine structures such as marine platforms and dock facilities.

Installation and Maintenance of Aluminium Anode

Installation position: aluminium anode should be installed in a position easily covered by seawater to ensure full contact with electrolyte (seawater). They are usually installed in the lower part of the ship's hull or close to the waterline.

Electrical Connection: Aluminium anodes need to be in close contact with the protected metal structure by means of an electrical connection to ensure current flow.

Inspection and Replacement: The condition of the aluminium anode needs to be inspected regularly and replaced in a timely manner depending on corrosion to ensure continued protection. In general, the life of an aluminium anode can be predicted by regularly monitoring the consumption rate.
