How To Release a Lifeboat With a Gravity Davit?
Gravity davit is a davit that lifts the boat overboard by its own gravity. The relevant regulations of China stipulate that when the lifeboat full loaded weighs more than 2300kg, gravity davit should be used.
Overview
Gravity davit release lifeboat procedure:
1. After being given the lifesaving command, needing three people climb up the boarding ladder, remove the lifeboat cover, enter the boat, tighten the bottom plug of the boat, send out the boat cable, put down the lifeline, and squat or sit down while holding the lifeline.
2. On the platform, two people should unlock the stopping device and the boat-fixing device, and make sure that the upper and lower passages of the crane arm are clear.
3. When ready, one person should lift the weight of the crane and pour out the crane arm.
4. When the boat descends to the boarding platform, put down the weight, and the two people on the boat use the side rope devices or hooks at the bow and stern of the boat to make the boat dock smoothly.
5. Other crew members board the boat and take their seats.
6. Lift the weight to continue lowering the lifeboat. Before landing in the water, the boat motor should be started.
7. As soon as the lifeboat enters the water, release the bow and stern hooks of the lifeboat at the same time.
8. Direct the boat launcher to use the ladder or lifeline to get down into the savior boat.
9. Release the boat cable and sail the lifeboat away from the stricken ship.
