Four-way Plug Valve
Four-way plug valve is a special type of plug valve that has four inlets/outlets that allow fluid to flow or split in multiple directions. Typically, this valve is designed to have a rotating spool that can be rotated to select different channel paths to control the direction and flow of fluid.
Overview
Four-way plug valves usually work in two modes:
Orthogonal cross: In this mode, the four channels of a 4-way plug valve form an orthogonal cross layout. When the spool rotates, it switches the fluid from one inlet/outlet to another, thus changing the direction of fluid flow.
Parallel cross: In this mode, the four channels of the 4-way plug valve form a parallel cross layout. When the spool rotates, it can divert fluid from one inlet/outlet to two outlets/inlets, or merge from two inlets to one outlet.
