The working principle of magnesium anode rod is to use the activity of magnesium to form an anode in the water heater to attract and adsorb the anions in the water, so as to prevent the inner liner and heating element from being corroded.

Overview

Product Overview

Hisea Marine's extruded magnesium anode rod is a critical sacrificial component designed to safeguard the inner tank and heating elements of water heaters, boilers, and heat exchangers from corrosive damage. By sacrificially corroding itself, it attracts aggressive elements in the water, thereby preventing rust and pitting on the steel tank, significantly extending the equipment's service life and maintaining water quality.

Working Principle

The rod operates on the principle of galvanic corrosion. Magnesium is more electrochemically active (anodic) than the steel tank. When immersed in water (the electrolyte), the magnesium anode corrodes preferentially, generating a protective current that flows to the tank wall. This process effectively “sacrifices” the anode to preserve the integrity of the expensive tank.

Installation

The magnesium anode rod is usually installed at the top or side of the water heater. In addition to protecting the inner liner and heating element of the water heater, magnesium anode rods can also reduce impurities and odours in the water and improve the quality of the water coming out of the water heater.

Product Advantages

High-Purity Material:‌ Made from ‌AZ31B magnesium alloy‌ (Mg balance, Al: 2.5-3.5%, Zn: 0.6-1.4%, Mn: 0.2-1.0%) with strict control over impurities (Fe, Cu, Ni, Si).

‌Superior Performance:‌ Offers a high ‌open-circuit potential (1.5-1.55V)‌ and provides ‌5-10 times longer service life‌ compared to aluminum or zinc anodes in many water conditions.

‌Vertical Integration:‌ Full in-house production from raw material to finished product ensures consistent quality, controlled composition, and rigorous inspection at every stage.

‌Dual Benefits:‌ Not only prevents tank corrosion but also helps ‌soften water, reduce scale buildup, and inhibit odors‌.

‌Flexible Design:‌ Available as ‌extruded rods with or without a steel core‌, and can be fitted with ‌customizable steel caps or screws‌ for easy installation.
