Elliptical Head
Diameter: The nominal diameter of ellipsoidal head is the inner diameter of the container it corresponds to, and the diameter ranges from 200mm to 10000mm.
Depth: The depth of elliptical head refers to the height of the raised part, the smaller the diameter, the shallower the depth; the larger the diameter, the deeper the depth.
Thickness: The thickness of ellipsoidal head is calculated according to the parameters of inner diameter, working pressure and material strength of the head. Generally speaking, in order to prevent excessive stress and deformation leading to leakage, the head of pressure vessel will be thicker than the cylinder.
Overview
Feature:
Elliptical heads are designed in an oval shape, and their structure is stronger and more stable than other types of heads. As the elliptical head can produce more uniform stress distribution inside the vessel, it has high strength and can withstand greater pressure and load.
The elliptical head design allows it to carry greater internal pressure while maintaining a smaller volume. Compared to flat or radius heads, elliptical heads have a larger area, which allows for better pressure dispersion and reduces the risk of fatigue damage.
The elliptical head's smooth profile, with no protrusions or corners, reduces fluid resistance and turbulence, providing better fluid flow. This is very important for some process equipment, storage tanks and other occasions that require uniform fluid distribution or lower energy consumption.
