Classification Of Expansion Joints According To The Form Of Compensating Displacement
Expansion joint is a device used to absorb the thermal expansion and contraction of industrial pipelines and equipment systems, to avoid additional stress caused by temperature changes or mechanical vibration and lead to damage or deformation of pipelines or equipment. Expansion joints in accordance with the form of compensation displacement can be divided into four categories, divided into axial type, lateral type, angular type and pressure balance, in different environments and working conditions should choose the appropriate expansion joints.
Overview
Axial
Axial expansion joint is a device used to absorb axial displacement in piping systems, usually consisting of one or more bellows and structural components. Common axial expansion joints are single-type axial expansion joints, compound axial expansion joints, external pressure axial expansion joints, and pressure-balanced expansion joints. According to the working medium, external environment and working temperature and other conditions, appropriate selection of suitable materials, commonly used materials, including austenitic stainless steel and corrosion-resistant alloys. Axial expansion joints are mainly used to absorb the axial displacement of the straight section, can also be used to absorb the “L” section of the axial and transverse combination of displacement, can not withstand the medium pressure thrust, pressure thrust by the pipeline fixed bracket to withstand. It often has welding connection and flange connection in two ways, widely used in petrochemical, electrical and electronic, steel pickling, acid and alkali liquid transportation and so on.
Transverse type
Transverse type expansion joint is a device used to compensate the transverse displacement of pipeline caused by thermal expansion and so on. It consists of two bellows with the same geometrical parameters and wave number connected by an intermediate pipe, as well as tie rods and end plates. Transverse type expansion joints include large tie rod transverse corrugated expansion joints, composite tie rod transverse expansion joints, transverse type expansion joints, compound tie rod corrugated expansion joints, and spherical compensators. They are mainly used in “L” and “Z” type pipe system, suitable for complex geological conditions, large settlement and pipeline operation in the place of frequent changes in heat and cold. With the advantages of large compensation capacity, easy installation, high reliability and good economy, they are widely used in power plants, water plants, chemical plants, cement plants, shipyards and other industrial fields.
Angular
Angular expansion joint is a device used to compensate for angular displacement in piping systems. Usually consists of bellows, hinge plate and pin and other components. Angular expansion joints include hinged transverse corrugated expansion joints, universal hinged corrugated expansion joints, and hinged corrugated expansion joints. It is mainly used in L-type, Z-type and U-type pipelines, widely used in thermal pipelines, oil pipelines, chemical industry and other fields, used to compensate for the angular displacement of the pipeline system, to adapt to the complex pipeline system, with no reverse thrust, muffling vibration damping, high temperature and corrosion resistance, sealing performance, etc., is widely used in the chemical industry, energy, petroleum, offshore engineering and shipbuilding, aviation and aerospace, construction and other fields.
Pressure balancing
Pressure balancing type expansion joint is a kind of compensation element used in pipeline system to absorb the thermal expansion or cold contraction of pipeline due to temperature change, medium temperature difference and other reasons, and to balance the thrust generated by the medium pressure inside the pipeline, which is mainly composed of bellows, end pipe, flange, bracket and other accessories. Pressure-balanced expansion joints include straight pipe pressure-balanced corrugated expansion joints, bypass pressure-balanced expansion joints, and curved pipe pressure-balanced expansion joints. It is suitable for pipeline in high position where fixed bracket cannot be set, and has the advantages of reducing thrust, compensating displacement, protecting equipment, etc. It is widely used in pipeline system of petrochemical industry, electric power industry, iron and steel metallurgy, city official website, ship, paper making, pharmacy and other industries.
