Bracelet Type Aluminum Anode
Bracelet type aluminium anodes refer to a common form of aluminium anode, similar in shape to a bracelet, which is commonly used for corrosion protection of metal surfaces. These anodes can be used in a wide range of industries to provide effective protection for metal products.
Overview
Bracelet Type Aluminum Alloy Sacrificial Anode
Product Overview
Hisea Marine's bracelet type aluminum anodes are engineered as semi-cylindrical segments specifically designed for the cathodic protection (CP) of pipelines. Their shape conforms to the pipe's outer diameter, ensuring maximum surface contact and uniform current distribution for optimal protection of submerged or buried steel pipelines in seawater and soil environments.
Principle of Operation
Bracelet anodes operate on the galvanic principle. The aluminum alloy, being more electrochemically active (anodic) than steel, corrodes preferentially when both are immersed in an electrolyte (e.g., seawater, soil). This sacrificial corrosion generates a protective electrical current that flows to the pipeline, thereby inhibiting the corrosion of the steel pipe itself.
Key Features & Design Advantages
Pipeline-Conforming Shape: The semi-cylindrical design ensures a close fit to the pipe surface, minimizing water flow resistance (for subsea pipelines) and providing efficient protection.
Uniform Current Distribution: Encircling the pipe, the anode delivers protective current evenly around the circumference.
Robust Mechanical Connection: Typically attached via steel split rings or integrated lugs, allowing for secure welding or bolting directly to the pipe or to pre-welded pads. A jumper cable is often used to ensure electrical continuity.
High Efficiency: Made from aluminum-zinc-indium (Al-Zn-In) series alloys, offering high current capacity and long service life.
Application
These anodes are commonly used for corrosion protection of metal structures such as ships, bridges, oil tanks, water treatment plants, etc. These facilities are often exposed to harsh environments such as water, salt, acidic or alkaline solutions for extended periods of time. These facilities are often exposed to harsh environments such as water, salt water, acidic or alkaline solutions for extended periods of time. Aluminium anodes provide effective protection against these corrosive elements, maintaining the integrity and stability of the metal structure.
