ASME B16.9 Cap

ASME B16.9 Cap

ASME B16.9 standard focuses on factory-prefabricated elbows, tees, and reducers used in metallic piping systems with diameters ranging from 1/2 inch to 48 inches. These fittings are used in a wide range of industries, including oil and gas, chemical, power, nuclear, marine and construction, and are critical components for ensuring safe and reliable connections in piping systems.

Overview

Connection Method:

Internal threaded connection is mainly through the threads of the pipe and the pipe cap connected together, the disadvantage is that it requires special tools to operate, generally applicable to smaller pipes.

External threaded connection is through the large-diameter pipe sets in the pipe cap, the threaded mouth of each other bite, its connection tightness is higher, applicable to larger pipes.

Flat welding flange is to press the pipe on two flat surfaces and then bolt the flanges together, the connection is firm and not easy to leak. Butt-welding flange is to weld the two ends of the pipe on the flange, its advantages are tight connection, high strength, suitable for pipelines under greater pressure.

Clamp connections are a simpler and more convenient way of connecting pipe caps and are suitable for pipes of smaller caliber. Clamp connection is mainly a tube set in a ring fixture, and then screws or clamps will be fixed at both ends together, the connection tightness is high.

Socket connection is a kind of pipe inserted into the pipe cap inside, and then use the screw to fix the connection, characterized by tight connection, firm, suitable for bearing light load pipe. Socket connection is suitable for smaller pipes, generally used for home gas piping, water piping and so on.
