Marine Furniture - Intimate Companion for Life and Work at Sea
Dear friends, when you step on a ship, marine furniture is not just a simple decoration. They provide solid guarantees for your journey at sea.
First of all, marine furniture is clearly graded. Ships will configure furniture according to multiple grades such as captain level, senior crew, sub-senior crew, intermediate crew, and general crew. Furniture of different grades is different in all aspects. The furniture of senior crew is often more refined and high-end, and can meet their specific needs in terms of both function and design. While the furniture of general crew focuses more on practicality and also fully considers space utilization efficiency.
In terms of fixation methods, since ships will continuously sway when sailing at sea, marine furniture mostly adopts a fixed type and is firmly fixed on bulkheads and decks. Usually, it is connected to the ship's structure through bolts, welding and other methods. In this way, even when the ship shakes violently, the furniture will not move or tip over, thus ensuring the safety of people on board.
Speaking of materials, marine furniture mainly has two types: wood and metal. Wooden furniture is made of wood, plywood, plastic veneer, planed surface board, etc. It has the advantages of good molding, strong decoration, natural texture, convenient production and processing, and light volume. Steel furniture includes painted and plastic-sprayed furniture, aluminum-plastic furniture, stainless steel furniture, etc. This kind of furniture is firm and easy to clean.
The design of marine furniture is also unique. The edges of the panels of tables, desks, and cabinets usually have a flange of 10 - 20mm. The drawers of cabinets must be equipped with stops to prevent items from falling when the ship sways. At the same time, rounded corner designs are mostly used to reduce the risk of people being injured by collisions. For furniture on some ships with special requirements or in specific cabins, fireproof or flame-retardant materials will be used to reduce fire hazards. Moreover, in addition to different living areas, crew members of different grades on board also have different furniture configurations. When designing, the needs of different people and the layout and coordination of the overall space must be fully considered.
Finally, marine furniture must comply with the regulations of the ship classification society. Mainly refer to the legal inspection technical rules of each ship classification society to ensure that its quality, safety and reliability meet the requirements of ship navigation.
